Halifax Humane Society

We had taken two small kittens here (brother & sister) and requested that they go to the same home; and if they were not placed I requested that they call us so we could try to find them a home. I called every 2 days to check on their status and was always told they were still there. I would remind them every time I called that I would take them if a home was not found. They always acknowledged my request. After 3 weeks, the person on the phone stated "They aren't here anymore". I was ecstatic. I asked if they were placed in the same home. The worker replied, "you don't understand, they are not here anymore". I knew immediately that they were put to sleep - the staff acknowledged that they were put down on DAY 3. I had been calling all this time, and offering to take them. They lied to me. I felt horrible about this. I would have taken them into my little "zoo".
It was heartbreaking.

Pros: Keeps the cat population low

Cons: Horrible communication - do not honor requests to save animals
