Please visit YourSPCA.org for information on our 24-hour animal rescue service, animal cruelty investigations, animal adoptions services, humane education programs, wildlife rehabilitation, and much more. The SPCA Serving Erie County is the second-oldest humane society in the country, serving the people and pets of our community since 1867. The mission of the SPCA is to create a caring and kind community that encourages fair and humane treatment of all creatures. Our knowledgeable, caring, and open-minded team of staff and volunteers achieves that mission through proactive efforts to address the current status of animals in our community, education of adults and children, rescue and sheltering of animals in need, and placement of animals into appropriate homes. By providing services for people and animals, we empower individuals to become caring, competent, responsible citizens who value animals as a vital part of our community. Visit YourSPCA.org to learn more about us, or just give us a call: 716-875-7360 in Tonawanda, or 716-549-5300 in Angola.

On Wednesday, April 16, Mr. Richard Thompson and his Zootoo crew visited the SPCA Serving Erie County! Thanks to Mr. Thompson and his amazing staff, for making our animals feel like a million! Plenty of purrs go out to the SPCA's hard-working team of board members, staff members and volunteers...to local media outlets who helped spread the Zootoo word...and to local politicians, legislators, celebrities, Tom Bauerle and the staff of Entercom Communications, Kevin O'Neill and the crew at NBC-affiliate WGRZ-TV, leaders of the many other animal welfare organizations in our community comprising the Animal Alliance of Western New York, and more than 400 community members (many with dogs!) who made it a point to be with us April 16 to share our excitement! Thanks, too, to more than 3700 Zootoo users who supported our shelter, thereby making us finalists in this incredible contest. Take a look at all the fun in our Zootoo photo album; just paste this address in your browser window!

Could do more

posted 6 years ago

I think the SPCA of Eric County needs some professional help to get the animals more quickly adopted--they try very hard but I think there is still more they could do and I think they need to find the right professional individual(s) to get that job done.

Maybe visiting other more prominate shelters like the ASPCA in NYC--they seem to have a handle on pet adoption and I think they would be able to guide Erie County in the right direction.

Pros: The have a strong volunteer staff.

Cons: They don't teach their volunteers enough to help the public

This is a great store. The workers were so nice to me and my husband when they read that we adopted a dog and not a puppy. The prices were very reasonable, much lower than I expected. Great store.

Always had a good experience here. the staff are always pleasant and helpful. I like the separate entrances for dogs and cats. Wish I would see the same vet every time.
