The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit corporation supported by tax-deductible donations. We are dedicated to the creation and maintenance of a responsible and humane two- and four-footed community. We provide for and protect abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted animals and promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people.

We ensure that the pets that are living here “temporarily” are treated as though this were their permanent home ensuring medical care, food, a warm bed, toys and most importantly, plenty of love. Our ultimate goal is to find loving homes for all our pets.

Because we receive no city, state or federal grants, no United Way program funds and no funding from National Animal Welfare organizations, the Humane Society for Greater Nashua relies solely on community-wide support, our fund raising endeavors, bequeaths, general donations and in-kind gifts.

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is a private non-profit organization dedicated to serving the animals and people of the Greater Nashua community since 1900. The society operates a full-service shelter in Nashua, New Hampshire.

They do a lot with the little they have

posted 5 years ago

I love that most of the cat rooms you can walk in and play with the cats because they are not in cages. I did have a bad experience with one person who worked there in which she was hassling me to fill out the adoption paper work. I just left because she was being rude and haven't seen her since. Everyone else there seems really great though.

Pros: Improvements made to the shelter

Cons: It's pretty small

Worthwhile facility

posted 5 years ago

We contacted the Humane Society when we were looking for a second dog. While they were very professional, they did not have the type of dog we wanted. I was glad that they did not try to encourage us to take another animal.

I have had clients volunteer at this facility, and always hear good things and the teens have a good experience.

Pros: have lots of cats

Cons: none
