Review Details

Kittitas County Friends of Animals (KCFOA) is a 501(c)3 non profit organization located in the small farming community of Ellensburg, Washington (about 2 hours from Seattle).

We are a very small group of people dedicated to helping animals.

Our Goals
*To develop a low cost spay/neuter program
*To build a foster care network for homeless pets
*To facilitate adoptions of homeless and stray pets
*To work for non-lethal feral cat management
*To educate the public on responsible pet ownership

Our Vision:
*A loving, forever home for every pet.
*No animal will be euthanized just because they are homeless

KCFOA works hard to fullfill its goals and vision. We have monthly tablings at nearby grocery stores where we raise the majority of are funds. We also publish our own newsletter 4 times a year in an attempt to keep in touch with our supporters and provide education.

We reach out to the local elementary schools by providing KIND news subscriptions and by hosting a Spay Day coloring contest each spring.

We make monthly trips to Seattle to alter feral and semi-feral cats through our TNR (trap/neuter/return) program. We hope this program helps stem the tide of kittens to our local shelter each spring.

Because our local adoption rates are so poor, we make weekly trips to Seattle rescues who are willing to accept cats and dogs from us (and our local city shelter) as transfers so that they have a chance at finding a forever family.

We work with our local city shelter (Ellensburg Animal Shelter) to help place cats and dogs with special needs.

We hope to one day have our own facility where we can have adoptions and areas for special needs animals and farm animals. However, in the meantime we put our money where it makes the most difference: the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs.
