Supporting Shelter: BUTTE HUMANE SOCIETY

Supporting Rescue: Chico Cat Coalition

Pros: Lots of wonderful cats

Cons: treats volunteers like garbage, lousy adoption rate

The barn manager Kathy needs to be fired. She is rude and unethical when it comes to people skills. She complains that everyone thinks they're right and they have an opinion yet she's oblivious to the fact that so does she. She has no respect for certain volunteers, her tone is condescending and she calls whenever she wants (even at 10 pm).
Their website claims they can't take in any more cats and legally they aren't supposed to yet there are many new kittens. That puts them in violation with their lease agreement.
As for their cleanliness, I can barely stand in there without my eyes burning from the ammonia from the litter boxes.
Those poor cats that will never see a home are living in drastic conditions. Kathy claims that not all of them are worthy of a loving home regardless of how friendly the cats are and how many requests there have been for them.

Hmm.. . this Kathy person sounds like the rude person
at the Chico Humane Society. I just wrote about her
on another page of comments. I also wrote about the
need for someone who has the time and compassion
to go to Corning to rescue 3 adults and 4 kittens at
the Comfort Inn, in the hedges behind the inn; they
are starving and suffering.. there will be a colony if
this continues... I am in Oregon and was passing thru
there on Sept. 6th, 2009, just a week ago.

Back to your comments.. this woman should be
fired and the place should be investigated for
cruelty to animals..as for her comment...she needs
to be tarred and feathered and sent packing.
How did she get that job? Volunteer? Get people
together, who have some authority, and change
things there.. for the sake of the cats.. it can be
done.. it takes leadership.
