My wife and I attended the second and third Pit Bull Conferences held by Badrap out in Berekely, Ca. They were both two day conferences which Pit Bull Lovers and Advocates from all over the country and Canada attended. W'ere from New Jersey and we weren't the furthest!

These folks really know what they are doing and really know Pit Bulls. The conference was a warehouse of knowledge that included great talks and presentations, Pit Bulls brought into the meeting room for various reasons, and a demonstration of the skills and training they do at the Pit Ed camps. It didn't hurt to rub elbows with other Pit Bull lovers either. There were even attendees and a presenter from one of my favorite animal welfare organizations and the first animal cruelty prevention society in the Western Hemisphere, none other then the ASPCA (est. 1866).

Badrap offers Pit Ed and CGC training classes. In addition they are involved with a number of informational programs throughout the country as well as webinars. They have a bunch of videos on Youtube that you can check out to get a feel for them and their dedication to the breed.

Their Pit Bull Hall is a model program that is nothing less then outstanding and a great mechanism for promoting Pit Bulls and developing breed ambassadors. This program was funded in part by Animal Farm Foundation another outstanding Pit Bull rescue.

Donna Reynolds and Tim Racer are the founding members of BADRAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls) and are truly wonderful people. It was both a pleasure and an honor to meet them at their Pit Bull Conferences and to have an opportunity to speak directly with them. It was also outstanding to have the opportunity to work directly with a Pit Bull in Tim's demonstration of what they do in their Pit Ed classes, even thought the first year we went, my demo Pit eliminated on the meeting room floor. Talk about a dedicated bunch. To my embarassement, it was cleaned up before I even knew that he went. In fact, this very episode is documented in Ken Foster's book "Dogs I have met and the people they have found" published in September 2007. Thankfully, he didn't include my name in his description of the incident, which in my opinion, wasn't very flattering, but no offense taken. The point is even an author attended their conference. How cool is that?
