Pros: All dogs are in foster care

Cons: Can't rescue all dogs!

RROC is a great rescue group that really wants retrievers to be in homes that understand their breed and want to love them. They have requirements for adopting. I like that they want a fenced in yard and won't accept invisible fencing or electronic fencing. All dogs are in foster care and potential adopters go to meet & greet events to meet the dogs. Many shelters and other reescue groups will contat them if a purebred retriever comes in because they'll take the dog if they can and free up space for other more mixed breeds. They have to select because of limited fosters and because the dogs are all in foster care, a truly aggressive dog might not fit.

[updated on 2008-02-10 10:03:28]:
RROC just made the news about a rescue of two thin and cold labs who were in minus-10 degrees weather out near Rifle, CO. They had been sighted running free for over a month. They are now safe in a foster thanks to RROC.
