Pros: Rescues Dogs and Cats for area pounds!
Cons: Needs more volunteers!
We first worked with Adopt a Pet when we were looking to add a 2nd kitty to our pet family. The volunteers really worked with us to help find the right cat for our family. Adopt a Pet uses volunteers so they can place their rescues animals in foster homes. This way the animals are not in a shelter, but in homes with people and other animals until they find a permanent loving home. This means they are able to give a lot of information to potential adopters about the pets personality and temperament. They also do home visits at the adopters homes to make sure that a new addition is doing well in a new environment. They have a 2 week trial period as well, so adopters have time to assess if it is the right pet for them. We were so impressed with the organization that we decided to foster cats for them. It has been a wonderful experience and the people we have worked with have been a great resource. So far we have fostered 5 kittens, kept one we fell in love with, adopted 2 out, and still have 2 available.
