I first adopted a cat from Adopt-a-pet in 1994. At that time the organization didn't have many foster homes and was based out of a large home garage. Otis was an elderly fellow that had been there a very long time, but I immediately fell in love. He was with us a few years before he began to fail and we had to say goodbye. When I was ready to adopt again, the only organization I considered at that time was Adopt-a-pet. I knew they were taking good care of the animals in their charge and I would only consider a rescue organization. Our new cat, Prissy, had been returned once already because she was timid and growled and hissed at the initial adopters. When she did the same to us (which was a new experience for me!), I called Adopt-a-pet and they reassured me that she would come around and to just give her time and space. I'm so glad they were there to provide counsel because it only took another day for that to happen and Prissy became my baby. Adopt-a-pet provides a great service to this community.
