Pros: Knowledgeable and Fast to contact Suspected Abuse
Cons: Gives Abusers too many chances
I have had to call this Rescue several times to report horses that are being neglected. We called many times about a man on my road who had no source of water for his three horses, as well as no food. The grass was gone, there were 2 goats on the property as well, and the horses were bone thin. The goat was ramming the horses with his horns and leaving huge scrapes and swollen areas, as well as a deep gash on one mare. There was a lame mare, a nice chestnut mare, and, of all things for an idiot to have: a Stallion. Legally, they have to give the people a chance, but this man was an exception. He did not make any effort to help his horses. The Equine Group even supplied hay and feed, a farrier, and a vet, because the man misled them into believing he was disabled and had no income. I hated that the Group paid his bills for him, but was grateful on the horse's behalf. They did eventually come and Rescue all 3 horses from the property. Which is exactly what my other neighbors and I hoped would happen.
