Pros: Staff really seems to care a lot about the animals, and knowledgable of individual animals, as well as animals in general.
Cons: Not really a con, but is to be expected: So many animals, it's sad.
Me and my wife visited the Harrisburg Humane Society after looking at several shelters and even online (Pet Finder), and really were impressed. The staff was very nice and helpful, and you can tell they really care about the animals there. As we were visiting privately with one of the dogs (the dog we actually ended up applying for and will be picking up soon), one of the staff, in passing, stopped to tell us about his disposition, personality, and background. You could tell he really got to know the dog during it's stay there. I was also impressed that when we mentioned condsidering another dog, and giving it's name, he was able to describe to us her background, and personality. This made all the difference, and I do believe we made the right decision. We look forward to providing a loving home and hopefully will be back soon to add to our pack! Overall a very good experience. I recomed you visit if you live in the area and are looking for an animal to provide a home for. You will be able to get all the information you need after looking at their inventory (sorry for having to call it that). Prices and services also very reasonable. One warning though - as will most shelters, be prepared for your visit. There a lot of animals, and it can be rather sad to see so many homeless animals. Thanks!!!
