Almost Home is a non-profit organization which was formed by a group of dedicated and compassionate volunteers with many years of shelter experience. Almost Home is working to help form a more humane community through rescue and rehoming and community outreach. We will maintain a no-kill policy toward animals and treat families that come to us with respect. Our goal is to find them the dog and cat that makes their family complete or help them to keep the pets they currently have.
We rescue dogs and cats from local municipal shelters, private homes and out of state shelters with very high euthanization rates. All animals are given all medical, spay/neutered, microchipped and completely vaccinated. Community Outreach is offered through Training Wheels, a nationally recognized program developed by Sue Sternberg, which offers assistance to families that love their pets but don't have the resources to care for them. We offer food, shelter, supplies, pet education, free spay/neuter services and medical assistance to those that need it. Humane education is offered to schools, children's groups, etc to help educate kids on compassion and pet responsibility . We assist familes that are having behavioral problems and need low cost training advice to keep the pets in their homes rather than be surrendered to local, already overfilled, municipal shelters.
