We are a non-profit (501c3) volunteer organization, formed to help German Shepherd Dogs that have been abused, neglected, abandoned or surrendered by their owners; many ending up in kill shelters. Our mission is to find loving homes for this noble and intelligent breed and to aid in educating the public about the characteristics of German Shepherds and the roles rescue groups play in reducing the amount of abandoned dogs. Our goal is to assess the temperament of these dogs, and find them loving families and homes.
Garden State German Shepherd Rescue has been rescuing dogs since 2003 and we average about 35 adoptions per year. We do not discriminate by age as more than half of our dogs adopted are older than 5 years old and we have a solid track record of adopting senior dogs 7 years and over.

We service all of New Jersey, parts of the Delaware Valley, Rockland County and Staten Island. You can find out more about our group at www.gsgsr.org
