Horses that come from the slaughter lot have a tendency to be sick, thin or in poor health. You need to keep this in mind with adopting a slaughter horse. You may need to get your new friend to a vet for care right away.
This group is trying to save a lot of horses, so their time is limited. They are doing good work, kudos to them. I don't know how they have enough time in the day to get all they do accomplished. They have placed a lot of horses into new homes

Columbia Basin has been saving slaughter horses for the past 3-4 or so years. They buy from the slaughter lot and re-home horses. Foster homes are also utilized to care for horses. They are trying to save a lot of horses, thus have become pretty big. This has spread the work force for this group out pretty thin & they sometimes don't get good followup on the horses they adopt out. Their heart is in the right place.
