No compassion

posted 1 year ago

We found this adorable little puppy and called Chihuahua Haven to come and we were going to give the pup to them so they could find her a good, pre-approved home. When this woman came (albeit on time), she said, "Hurry and give it to me, we can get rid of it while it is young and cute." What? She treated the tiny puppy like it was something only to make her a few bucks, not a living, feeling animal. She even handled her roughly. Red flags came up for us and we did not give the pup to her, but rather found a great home a couple weeks later. I feel we made the right decision, especially reading these other reviews. Our pup is healthy and happy.

Pros: Came to appointment on time

Cons: Treated pup like object

Bad experience

posted 2 years ago

I am writing this review to save others from the stress and sadness of purchasing a sick dog from a rescuer who “flipped” the three dogs we were shown for adoption. They had not been kept long enough at her kennel (only 3 days) to determine health, and Parvo was already incubating. We spent a ton of money, and luckily didn’t lose her. Here’s what happened:
After getting approved within an hour by this rescue, we went the following day to pick out our dog. She was healthy and playful. Within 3 days she was lethargic and refused to eat anything (Friday). By Saturday she was no better, so we took her into an emergency vet clinic; paid for bloodwork and antibiotics ($273.00). She was worse by Sunday so we took her back and the clinic admitted her for IV fluids and antibiotics. We were required to leave a deposit of $800 after a diagnosis of Parvo. She did improve, thankfully, but we paid a total of $918 to the clinic, PLUS expensive antibiotics, PLUS a hefty adoption fee ($350). She was on IV's for 2 full days. She is still on antibiotics (2 weeks later), as she contacted kennel cough, and the vet said that also had probably been incubating when we purchased her.
Other than a text message after we complained to the rescuer, she has not returned one call or e-mail. Never once through the ordeal did she inquire about the condition of the dog. She just took the money and ran. We asked about a refund of some of our adoption fee… no response. We just expected her to do the right thing. I would not recommend this “rescue”.

Pros: Love the dog

Cons: came with Parvovirus
