Dont adopt from pawmatch

posted 5 years ago

i worked there for five months. i love dogs with all my heart but that company was a mess. the dogs would be shipped in from a few places. the puppys were suppose to be kept there for 2 weeks for testing but as soon as they had puppys they would let us take them that morning half without shots and if they had shots they had no paperwork on them. we would just take blank intake sheets and make up shot dates and names for them. i saw so many puppies die because they said they couldnt get the parvo infection out of the cement in the quarintine room. they had over 50 kittens in one room at one point and some had severe eye infections so they killed them all one morning. one girl took five home before and nursed them back to health they survived. pawmatch did this so they wouldnt have to deal with the cost of helping them. when heart worm dogs came in we did not treat them. i was loading dogs into vans without ac in the summer. i had kittens die due to the heat almost all the a.c.s in the van were broken and out of inspection, the older dogs were in 6 dog runs from small dogs in one run medium dogs in one and adult dogs in the rest of the runs. there was many dog fights cause they didnt know any of the dogs personality. they put aggressive dogs with timid dogs. well once at our sites which some were in the worst spots it would take a bit to set my tent up the dogs would have to sit in the van with no ac. i felt so bad. you try to find water fill buckets set up a tent and heavy cages fast as you can cause the dogs were hot. i had help somedays but not when i first got there. it was hard. the owner would tell me to lie to people to get adoptions. if you ever heard from pawmatch that the dog you adopted was save from the lake and he was thrown out of a boat. its a lie. we had no clue what these dogs were like or there anything about there past. its 130 donation but and they give you a paper to get them fixed from emancipet which will do it for free anyways. pawmatch sucks. i worked 10 hour days for these people and tried really hard to help these dogs but its the company and staff that cant run this shelter they need to be shut down or someone come and buy it that knows what they are doing. hope this helps.

Pros: they mean well but dont have the staff to take care of the dogs

Cons: they donot give shots, dont know the dogs, they give you no training

Got a great dog

posted 5 years ago

I adopted Emma in front of a local Petsmart in the summer of 2007. She was a young approx year old terrier/shepard mix. Hyper and naughty at first. Probably didn't get much attention at the shelter. She just needed some love and positive reinforcement. I live in the country so had lots of room to run and be herself. No health problems at all. She is a wonderful loving dog who loves her buddy Baxter. Many shelters are pushed to their limit right now and need adopters more than ever. We are responsible for the animal we bring home, there are no guarantees, just be careful!

Pros: Great loving dog. Adoption was hassle free

Cons: Didn't get much prior history, not sure if she had been spayed
