Great experience!
posted 1 week ago
I adopted my first dog ever from Critter Cavalry. My husband had dogs growing up, but I never had any. I have 2 sons as well and we thought it was a perfect time! I knew I wanted to adopt from a rescue and a friend told me about petfinder. I found Tesla on there. I was reluctant to adopt a dog without meeting her, but I developed such a great rapport with the foster mom, I became perfectly comfortable before she came. She wasn't available right away due to her age, so we had 4 weeks of emailing back and forth, receiving updated pics, etc. she also helped me pick which puppy in the litter I wanted. She had a scar on her back that I knew about ahead of time, and doesn't show now with her fur over it. I'm not sure the others were told of this, however, and there were a couple others in the litter with this issue. (I spoke with one couple at the pick up, and they did not know the pup had the scar. I had to explain what I was told about it.) The puppies were well cared for, despite that. She was healthy and adjusted well. She clearly came from a loving home, fostered with her mother and litter mates.
The process was simple, and everyone really seemed to love what they do. I only spoke with Candace once, then dealt with the foster, Amanda, then Penny in MA. I still keep in touch with her foster mom.
Unfortunately, they can't adopt to MA residents anymore or I would have gotten my newest puppy from them. The next rescue was not quite as good!
Pros: Excellent foster,, smooth process
Cons: No longer adopting to MA. Not meeting your pup before you get her

2 Happy Critters
posted 4 months ago
We adopted 2 dogs from Candace, couldn't be happier. It is true that you should do your research before contacting them. (1) Are you a good home for a dog? Able to provide stable home, fenced yard and have the ability to pay for vet bills and food. (2) These are dog that are rescued. My dogs are extremely healthy..but did have worms not long after we got them (no fault of CC) If you do not think you can afford vet bills ..do not adopt or buy a dog. Prior to adopting I would recommend talking to a veterinarian, looking into training courses, and reading up on dog care and breeds. Candace and crew are good hearted and honest, and I am afraid the bad reviews here speak more to people needing to be more prepared from the start.
Pros: Caring, thoughtful, honest
Cons: None..if you go in prepared
