Dogs Hope saves and fosters dogs from local animal control shelters that have "run out of time." Most of our dogs are English Pointers or small terriers, we also have German Shorthaired Pointers and the occasional mix. Dogs Hope has placed more than 90 dogs into loving homes. Currently Dogs Hope is home for 30 dogs, about half up for adoption. Our permanent residents are either seniors who have been with Dogs Hope for a long time, or have issues which make them not good candidates for adoption.

• Dogs Hope receives no outside funding (donations are always welcome). You can learn more about us on Petfinder and on our website dogs.hope.googlepages.com.

Dogs Are Given a Second Chance at Dogs Hope

posted 6 years ago

I got my dog, Betsy, from Dogs Hope Rescue. This was before I was involved with the Humane Society in my area. Judith, the woman who runs Dogs Hope goes around to the shelters and pulls dogs who are about to be euthanized. She began saving Pointers and now has a few smaller dogs. I saw Betsy listed on PetFinder and contacted Judith. I wanted to adopt within my county and went out to Dogs Hope to meet Betsy. Judith runs this rescue out of her home. She does this in addition to her full-time job. There's lots of wooded space around and lots of runs for the dogs. Anyway, my other dog, Blue and I went to meet Betsy and got to spend time with her without being rushed. Judith was patient and answered any and all questions. It's obvious she loves these dogs and wants the best for them. The world needs more people like this! Rescuers are a special breed of human :-)

Pros: lots of good dogs to be had here, Judith and her staff are passionate about saving dogs, they want the best owners for their dogs

Cons: a little off the beaten path
