Running a shelter I see both sides. But with the amount of pets here that need homes, I would have contacted the family that now had the dog and checked out its new living arrangements. If the home was up to code per sey then I would have let the new family keep the pet. That clause is great for people who take a pet and then move or tire of it and decide to no longer keep it. It gives them the ability to bring it back, and makes us feel better knowing it didnt end up in a pound. I've had people contact me that can no longer keep a ferret but claim their sister or friend have fallen in love with it. I ask to have their friend fill out our information sheet but let them take the pet. Isnt that easier on the pet then the returning and leaving again? Ellen did what she thought was in the best interest of the pet. My guess is others have adopted from there and have given up their pets to someone else but just didnt tell. Read Less
