I have been hearing about number of abandoned and surrounded pets increase. That just makes me sick to my stomach. How can you abandon your family? Are these people abandon their own kids next, due to economy? Having a pet should be taken way more seriously. I have seen people adopt pets without thinking about health issue and associated cost, they would just abandon their pets when pets get sick, and adopt another one. I think there should be more strict rules for having pet. Pet insurance, microchip and vaccination should be mandatory at minimum. I personally think that if a owner-to-be does not have health insurance for him or herself, then adoption should not be allowed. Read less
