Please learn all the facts before condemning someone who for 14 years has run a sanctuary for feral, sick, and abandoned cats. This woman has a deep faith and doesn’t believe in killing anything unlike the PSPCA who has a very high percentage kill rate… Read More
Yes she had sick cats but the cats were given medications and many lived long lives there before dying. There were vets that helped her with care and directions on how to care for these cats.
I became suspicious of the video I saw on TV when they showed sick cats in the healthy cat living area. I had just been there Monday before the raid and saw no sick cats in this area. I did see sick cats in the medical treatment building that day.
No one speaks of the low cost spay/neuter program that did over 900 cats last year ($20 neuter and $40 spay this included shots) or the many low income people she helped with sick cats that they could not afford to fix. She would take them to her vets and cover the cost and then give the cat back to the family who loved it and not charge them a dime.
She also had done many adoptions. If all these cats were “sick and dying” how did she have any for adoption? The one video showed cats running up and down a tree while so called rescuers were trying to trap them, they certainly didn’t look “sick and dying”
Yes there was a freezer (every large shelter and even vet offices have freezers for the dead animals) with cats that had died over the winter and were waiting for burial in the spring when the ground thawed. She had a100 cats dead in a 6 month period. The SPCA has euthanized over 100 since the raid in less than 2 months. They stole the food, carriers and food and water bowls that night saying they needed them.
They knew what they were planning for months why didn’t they already have these things stockpiled at the Clarion shelter which they closed a couple of months earlier because it wasn’t cost effective and will probably close again after the court case.
These cats were used to living in a large cat safe fenced area with cat doors going into buildings that were warm in the winter and cool in the summer and now they are living in cat carriers. No wonder they are getting sick, the stress will lower their immune systems and make them susceptible to everything.
She was inspected repeatedly by Allegheny County Humane agents who have a reputation of honesty, integrity and not being intimidated by anyone when it comes to animal abuse. There are 6 agents with over 100 yrs experience between them. I resent the insinuations that they are not competent. I have worked with these agents in the past and know they are excellent in their fields.
This site will show you the inspection report and pictures of Tiger Ranch. www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org
I have several questions I would like answered by the PSPCA. Why didn’t they do an open inspection and tell her if anything was wrong? Why did it take 7 months to figure out these poor cats were being “maimed and tortured”? (Perhaps it took that long to get enough film for a TV show for Animal Planet)
