I think that the politicians' position on animal welfare gives us insight into their character and sensitivity and tells us whether have a true concern for those lives that have no voice. While I don't think the President will have the time to address this issue during his or her term, there are certainly small things that can be done to boost support. Yhe USDA is a federal agency - Yet it consistently fails us as consumers as well as animals of every type. The caution is that politicians rarely have a clue as to reality - for example, BSL legislation. So we need to be careful of what kind of involvement we ask for because we may get something we didn't want at all. Read Less
