As I read through the comments, I think that people need to see what the goal is....that my pet be happier. If that means medication, so what? People opposed to it are probably the same ones who oppose people being able to be happier, too. We know that these people (and pooches) have brains that look different. We would treat our animals' diabetes or parvovirus, wouldn't we? Brain is just another organ, folks.
When I was growing up, dogs ran freely through our neighborhoods and they weren't depressed because they were free and not cooped up while people worked- they could socialize with other people and with other animals. Life was easier for all of us. Now they are in a cage or a house or alone all day and they, as we, are social creatures and they are disturbed. They don't know when you're coming home and they are lonely and sad. Maybe they have to pee or poo and they don't want to disappoint but what are they to do? Do you understand how this all works? Now think it might be better if they feel better about all this? Read Less
