The plight of homeless animals is very close to my heart and knowing how the presidential candidates stand on this issue is very important when I decide who gets my vote. It is unbelievable that so many aniamls are euthanized in the United States!! And, only with strong legislation will this trend be reversed. Laws requiring pet owners to spay/neuter their pets will go a long way to this goal.
Also it's time for vets to step up and begin to volunteer for spay/neuter clinics so that folks who can't afford to pay the normal fee can still do the responsible thing and help control the pet population.
Also, spread the word that folks looking for a good pet should visit their local shelters and humane socities rather than visiting pet stores that do nothing but support puppy/kitten mills. Read less
