I have 4 dogs. Irish Setters and a Rott/Dobe mix. 3 of the 4 dogs are rescues. Chloe was the only one I got as a puppy. She was born on my birthday. Max is the King with all his princesses.

On August 6 2009 around 5:30pm max crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He got sick on the 2nd and Dr. Ed and Dr. Betsy and the staff at Hillside animal hospital did everything they could to try to save him but he had a mass that had gone to his liver and he had had such a hard life and for the last year and a half only knew joy and happiness and love that … read more

Don't blame yourself. This same thing happened to my parents a couple of years ago and they got the dog alive to the Humane Society but she was so severly neglected and abused they didn't know if they would be able to do anything. There are harnesses that can be purchased to secure a dog right behind the cab of a truck so this thing doesn't happen. I am in a situation where I am caring for a dog that is lucky to be alive. His owner cared more about his cache of women than his dog. God forgives you and know that you are a good person for caring. Read less
