Animal shelters across the country serve their communities by keeping the streets from being over run by stray and feral pets. They take in pets that people can no longer take care of. They sponsor spay and neuter programs to try and reduce the numbers at their source. They do all of this and more every day with little or no support from the municipalities they serve.
Laws restricting 'factory' breeders would reduce the number of unhomed pets and reduce the number of impulse purchases from pet stores.
Require anyone who wants to breed their pet to pay a breeding fee for each litter they produce. That money could go to that communities shelters. Also require a facility inspection for anyone breeding more than 1 litter a year.
These are relatively inexpensive solutions when compared to the cost of euthenizing and disposing of countless pets.
Please support legislation that will provide solutions to this terrible waste of life.
