You have to be 18 years old to volunteer alone, however, if you are younger, a parent, friend or relative who is over 18, can be the "official" volunteer, and you help them. I have volunteered since I was 14, with my parents. The shelter isn't very strict though, once they get to know you and see that you are responsible they don't seem to mind. One of the things you can do is help out for their "Adoption Fairs" on Saturdays, and you help get chosen dogs adopted.
