I think giving any kind of drug to an animal or human that is not neccessary is crazy. There is a saying that if your dog is fat, YOU are not getting enough exercise! I do know that there is a diet consisting of using green beans with dog food that helps them lose weight and it has been very successful in helping dogs that came to the shelter overweight. If it is a thyroid issue or similar, then definately it may need to be controlled by medication. I just recommend that you try all avenues before drugs. It can harm the liver and cause more problems in the long run. Read Less
