I do volunteer fundraising for our local shelter and I also volunteer doing collie (purebred) rescue. It never ceases to amaze me that our government doesn't see the correlation between child abuse and animal abuse. And that it isn't in our education system to teach our children that animals are life long commitements, not disposable items that you drop by the side of the road when you get tired of them. Now with the housing market in such a state, there are even more animals in shelters as homes are foreclosed on. I don't want to hear that animals aren't important. I want to hear what the candidates are doing to help.
