Unfortunately, people have policies and can determine what animals can be adopted. It's not the Humane Society's fault that you were unable to adopt. They were adhering to their policies and it cannot be helped that your son fell in love. It's unfortunate you weren't able to get the animal that you wanted, but they didn't purposely want to make you fall in love only to tear it away from you.
