It gives too little detail. Did they accually winess the dog attack the baby? What if the baby had been, say, pulling the dog's ears. The pet's natural instict would have been to bite the kid, as it would an unruly puppy. Even if it did bite, thats no reason to euthanize it for doing wrong. That would be the equivalent (in my opinion) of one of your friends shooting you cause you, say, broke his favorite toy. Its just ONE THING, and it can be made up for.
