You have a great point, and you're absolutely right. I consider myself an advocate for Pit Bulls as I've had wonderful experiences with them -- bar none. However, you are correct that if they DO attack (for whatever reason) they are most likely to do severe damage, likely lethal. That's why in my opinion it is SO crucial that Pit owners make a commitment to socialize the dog when it is a puppy and train it to be comfortable around all types of people, including children. If this is done, the chances of the dog attacking decrease hundred-fold.

No one likes to hear of an animal hurting a person or another animal. It's a shame, and so easily prevented. We need to take special care with breeds that have those tendencies. That doesn't mean that they are inherently mean, it just means that we have to take special care to make sure they are "raised-up" right, if you know what I mean.
