Actually, Poochie was an owner-surrender from a few years ago. Would you believe the jerk had her for five years and never bothered getting her fixed? She was preggers when she came in. Kind of reminds me of a T-shirt I have of a cat leading a pregnant woman on a leash. The shirt says "Rufous is surrendering his owner because she keeps on getting pregnant." An exasperated Rufdous explaisn to the bemused shelter employee that he doesn't know how she manages to "keep getting out". Poochie, a polydactyl (extra-toed cat) came in very svelte but grew depressed at the shelter, quickly growing into twice the cat she used to be. She went through two foster homes. (She and the resident cats were both stressed at the first. ) While at the second home, it was discovered Pooch preferred men. A man who was interested offered to foster with the possibility of adopting last summer. Since Pooch had gotten the reputation of being a bit of a prima-donna, we all held our breath but it turned out to be a match made in heaven! Read less
