Knittercat in Shelter Makeover
Dear Richard and the entire Makeover Team, As one of the vets at Second Chance Animal Shelter, I want to add my thoughts to the many eloquent words already written here. Dear Richard and the entire Makeover Team,
As one of the vets at Second Chance Animal Shelter, I want to add my thoughts to the many eloquent words already written here. To put it mildly, this is one amazing group of folks! They are unbelievably dedicated and compassionate. I could not ask for a more committed group of volunteers to help make the dream of "no more unwanted animals" come true. We have already shown what we can do with the tiny amount of space that we have - nearly 2000 spays and neuters last year in our low-cost program, and hundreds of placements in forever homes for our shelter dogs and cats. Imagine what we can do with a "real" surgery space instead of a storage closet! Each kitty could have a comfortable cage with a litter box, instead of sitting in its tiny carrier all day. We could separate the surgery area from the shelter kennel, so the barking dogs don't add to the stress of the surgical patients. We could schedule more clinics each week and help other shelters adopt out neutered pets, thereby guaranteeing that more dogs and cats do not add to the overpopulation problem. There is a huge need for these programs in central Massachusetts; no other organization has the facilities to offer these low cost services to pets and their owners. We promise that if you give us the facility, we will make it happen. It's that simple.
Thank you in advance for your consideration, and for all you are doing for pets and their people. Read less
