Description: Gumdrop was a cavy I adopted, along with her twin, Juicy Fruit. Unfortunately, her sister barbered her and I had to separate them. Juicy Fruit was happy being alone but Gumdrop was lonely. I adopted a baby teddy named Truffles as a surrogate baby for her. It was love at first sight. Gumdrop adopted her as her own and took great care of her. She suffered from a lot of skin ailments and was at the vet more than any of my others. But, she was a real trooper. Truffles and I still miss her.

When I first signed on to Zootoo, the first thing that caught my attention was Pet Wars. I played it a lot until I discovered the Shelter Makeover contest. Then, I got so involved with trying to make points for my shelter, Dubuque, Pet Wars went on the wayside for. I didn’t play any longer, but one of my deceased guinea pigs, Goody Goody Gumd… read more

There is an interesting article in the 12-14-08 front page of the Daily Herald, Dupage County Focus edition that looks at the emotional toll of losing a pet. The man featured in the story lost two of his dogs within two years of each other. He said noticed that the loss of a pet has little recognition in our society. He is among a growing numb… read more
