Bobbi and The Strays "Shelter Makeover"
We find it amazing that this little shelter in Queens has done so much with so little. On a shoestring budget ( a substantial portion of which has come from the founder and volunteers over the years) they have saved the lives of countless homeless animals. From our first meeting we were impressed by the dedication, professionalism and most of all passion of the entire staff of volunteers. Despite meager resources, they always manage to somehow pull together whatever is needed to get these animals in their care whatever they need in order to be healthy and happy.
We have personally witnessed dogs that seemed hopeless be nursed back to health regardless of cost (much of which, we understand, has come from these people's own pockets over the years) and finally placed in loving homes.
To give Bobbi and the Strays this prize, we feel, would be a godsend to the many homeless animals of the city of New York. They have done so much with so little. Just think what they could accomplish if given the proper resources
