I was a sophomore at MU in 1967 when I moved off campus and adopted my first dog from the Humane Society. I called ahead and then went over. The HS consisted of an elderly man with one deck and one dog in his garage. I adopted the dog, an elderly black daushound.
Since then I have an MAT in ed, married a Naval officer, moved frequently, and taught for 30 years. We founded Rota Animal Welfare League in Rota, Spain, when stationed there and Patuxent Animal Welfare Socielty, Inc. (PAWS) when stationed in Patuxent River, MD. We currently volunter with PAWS in Calvert County and Annapolis, MD.
My sister now lives in Columbia, MO, and supports the Central Missouri Humane Society.
