Thank you, I read the story. In most police departments bullet proof vests aren't provided for the dogs. It takes a dog being harmed for the story to get in the local newspaper and then concerned animal lovers donate money to purchase vests for the dogs. My point was that dogs are police officers too (just like this story is trying to demonstrate) and as police officers I believe they should be outfitted properly, not have to hope animal loving citizens donate enough cash to outfit each dog on the force.
