Hi -- I'm so sorry for your loss. What I fed was the Nutromax pouch food. His dam was raised on it as a kitten, so I raised the boys on it. The other two moved on to new homes and started eating different food. Bud would eat nothing but that. No dry food. Nothing else (and when I had to finally get him to eat something else after the Nutro was recalled, I found two cans of food he'd eat). I immediately took him to the vet for his kidneys to be tested, and he was fine. But then his liver failed. According to the owner of his sire (she lost three Siamese to it -- same food line!) she works closely with Cornell University and U of Pennsylvania vet schools: more cats whose kidneys were fine, are dying from liver failure. It takes longer to build up the toxins.
I had my Schipperke Moe go into renal failure the October before the recall. And now according to the attorney handling the cases, they are tracking back cases to the summer before the recall! The food he ate was the Purina canned food.
You may want to contact an attorney. I can send you the attorney's information that I have. Let me know and I'll be glad to do that.
My dog after being in ICU for a week is now healthy -- but on medication for the rest of his life.
One of the good foods that was not recalled was Royal Canin (which my cats eat) and the Purina cat canned food. I will never feed Nutro again. My cats don't like IAMs. I used to feed Eukanuba, and I don't think they had any recalls.
Thanks. He was special. The Havana Brown used to have a horrible reputation for being hot headed. Judges did not like to handle them. During the past years they bred nicer personalities, but many judges still were concerned they would blow. What was so ni… Read More

During the past years they bred nicer personalities, but many judges still were concerned they would blow. What was so nice is I had many judges tell me that Bud set such a good example for the breed. And he loved showing (I said he was a diva!). So, in his short life he accomplished a lot more than many cats who show for several years or become breeding cats, have done. You can see more photos of him at www.siddhishavanabrowns.comRead Less

I just think of all of the other pets that were lost because of that, and how many will still die from kidney or liver failure. How sad. It breaks my heart. Read Less

It makes me so mad.
