I don't think you have looked into this product. It is made to work with a "flight suit", a harness that can be used to take birds out of doors or to new places. Unlike some other harnesses it has cloth all across the bird's chest (so no risk of chocking etc). However, because it goes all around the bird, droppings can get caught in the flight suit...hence the liners. I think this would also be a useful feature when taking a bird to a new place. I wouldn't use them all the time but would use the flight suit, with its liners, to take our bird on special outings (assuming I can ever get my bird to wear it without terror... many other people have, including some who have commented on this board). We had the same issue with our (7 year old) half moon conure. He was absolutely terrified of the flight suit. We also bought a whole pack of liners to go with it. We had hoped that we could use this to take him out of the house on excursions in nice weather.

We will probably eventually try again with the flight suit. We have just recently started clicker training. I wonder if eventually we can teach him to overcome his fear of the suit using the clicker. Read Less

ps - I am not as concerend about the price, which I feel is a reasonable trade-off, since this Kong product is made in the USA and seems durable and like it will not break up into little pieces of hard plastic which could be dangerous when swallowed.
