Very well stated. As one of those people who used to snub open intake shelters it didn't take long for me to fully understand the severe problems with limited intake shelters. I have volunteered and visited and adopted out of these places and I know first hand that these "no kills" aren't always the most humane for the animals. I was in a "no kill" in Missouri that had about 20 dogs in one pen. I ended up adopting out one of the dogs and that dog was literally starved because it was a passive dog and they were just free feeding these dogs. This guy I got never got a scrap. I am not saying that their efforts are any less valiant than the next shelter but don't dismiss the open shelter because of the choices they have to make. It's more humane in the long run to be put down gently then to starve to death.
