I also have a dog that was abused and never barked. I adopted him from a local humane society and have had him for almost a year now. He is still afraid of a lot of things and only barks occasionally (once every week or two and never more that one bark) when he really wants to get my attention. I had him for 4 months before he wagged his tail. Now he does it all the time. It takes patience but it's worth it. Read less
