I was happy to see this article on zootoo about holistic treatments available for our animal friends. I would just like to add one other holistic treatment I did not see mentioned. I know of practioners who do "THERAPEUTIC TOUCH" treatment on hurt or sick animals, as well as humans. I have experienced this treatment first-hand for chronic illness, and it is wonderfully healing and calming.

"THERAPEUTIC TOUCH" is a healing modality that has been used for over 30 years in many different clinical situations. It has been used for treatment of chronic pain, bone fractures, pre and post surgically for pain relief, and in terminally ill patients . There are practioners all over the U.S., so finding one would not be difficult.

THERAPEUTIC TOUCH does not necessarily involve touching. It is more energy work than anything else. The practitioner moves their hands and "scans" the client's own energy fields for blockages or lack of free-flowing energy in the body. They then, with explicit and conscious direction, act as a human energy support for the human/animal so it may regain its own balanced life energies in the body It was introduced and taught by Dolores Krieger, Ph.D, RN and Dora Kunz, who have written many books on the topic.
