I have seen many animals come into the Maxfund scared, depressed and withdrawn. It's amazing how they gain confidence and trust after living at the shelter for a while. They understand they are in a safe, loving place and look forward to seeing their favorite volunteers come and walk them in the fresh air, play ball in the rehab range and just give them love and attention. A recent example is Tony who was found as a partially feral dog. He was terrified when he first came to the shelter and hid in the corner of his kennel. I couldn't believe it yesterday when he looked me in the eye and actually took a treat out of my hand. The Maxfund believes in every animal who enters its doors and treats them with respect and kindness until they find their forever homes. Read Less
