Its sad to have to have breed specific laws but unfortunately a lot of people who own these breed of dogs are of the same breed themselves...the irresponsible breed. Some dogs do tend to be high strung and do not belong in stressful situations. I had a co worker get severely mauled by 2 pit bulls on the stairway of his apartment building. People had complained about the dogs and the fact that the owners often left the door to their apartment open, but nothing was done until the attack. I agree with the laws and think the owners need to be held responsible. A well cared for and loved animal isn't likely to be dangerous. As a previous dog owner I know that some breeds of dogs tend to be more aggressive than others. At the same time no animal should be left unattended where the public may come in contact with them.
