I rescue horses and see animals in all sorts of situations, but I can honestly save that this ranks right up there with the worst of the worst. And no jail time? I am disgusted by the fact that he will be free to walk around.

I rescue horses and can completely understand the connection. I think Will Rogers once said, "there is something about the outside of horse thats good for the inside of a man." Horses are extremely therpeutic and wonderful and we would be honored to give this group one of our rescue horses, we currently have 11 horses in therpeutic riding programs around the country! One the surface this gentleman appears to just want a horse or two, but really isnt giving the horses the best care. If he truly cared for his horses he would board them at a facility or purchase a new home or farmette.
Could this just be a media stunt? Something he can do to raise interest in the fact that he believes he doesn't have to abide by US Laws?
Either way, the horses are the ones that will be at risk if. I do not know if they are at risk now, I do not know if the picture above is of the actual horses or not.
I would hope this gentleman decides that it would be in the best interest of the horses to be in a larger area with a proper barn and care. The article doesnt say if the yard has any sort of shelter.
What a shame for the horses.

I feel badly for the family...what a terrible thing they must be going through.

Or they bought them as baby chicks, which they are completely adorable, and then maybe figured out that having baby chicks is not all its cracked up to be, no pun intended.
I hope that they can round the chickens up before they get hurt or cause an accident, as this is really no place for chickens. We had chickens here and they produced lots of eggs, but were constantly underfoot, I cant imagine how it is in such a busy place with them running all around! Read Less

I just cannot (and friends and I were discussing this earlier today) WHAT on EARTH possesses people to be mean to the most innocent and vunerable in our society, be it animals, children, elderly. I just can't imagine it.
I am feeling badly if I am an hour late with dinner for anyone on the property and these guys think its cool to subject defenseless cats to this torture. I truly believe in an eye for an eye, and hope that these people are punished to the FULLEST extent of the law. Read Less

Anyone who can be so cruel to an animal deserves no kindness themselves. I rescue horses and have seen some pretty awful things, this story is just about the worst I have read in the past couple of years.
Goodness gracious, what a sad, sad story. I wish that I could help. Does anyone know if this shelter adopts out of state? I am going to contact them asap!
Goodness, what a sad way to die. I can't imagine how this poor little dog suffered and just out of curiousity. I didn't know that they had so many quills. I did think that they were poisonous, now I know better!
