The Western Pa Humane Society has a Foster Parent Application right on line which is easy to access and complete. The Volunteer and Foster Coordinator is a dedicated individual working long and hard to place animals in appropriate foster homes. With 48 hours notice she was able to find foster homes for the entire pet population when some floor renovation work required the entire shelter to be emptied of living creatures for their health and safety, thats over 200 animals folks! We were happy to report we had several "foster failures" from that marathon - by "foster failures" we mean animals taken in for foster which turned into permenant adoptions. No Kill is not all it's cracked up to be. We are PROUD to be an Open Door Shelter. No kill is another name for Limited Access, instead we accept all domestic animals without a waiting list, without any judgement of the condition of the animals. Limited access shelters turn away hundreds of animals each year because they don't think they can adopt them out, Open Door shelters accept those animals and work very hard to find loving homes to all adoptable animals even the ones with special challenges.
