I have to side with poppet8 on this matter. I looked at the Erie County SPCA website and saw the pictures of your shelter with the renovations. I also believe most of the shelters on zootoo deserve to win the makeover. Except, shelters that have the money to have "dutch doors" on the dog kennels. So many other shelters could deserve this makeover. The shelter i volunteer at and I am supporting has a cat room that is so small about nine feet by nine feet. We have cats in the lobby, tons of dogs in temporary cages and tons of other animals in mobile houses either because they are sick or there is simply not enough room in the main shelter. These animals never get visited.

Our shelter is the only true no-kill shelter in Colorado. We don't put animals down. We have a room called Petunia's room which houses cats who have Feline Leukemia and Aids. We also have a ferrel cat room.

While I do believe that your shelter could use the makeover, I think there are shelters that need it much more.

The trailer was not air conditioned and it was during the summer. It was like a moving truck with a few holes for air in it. While unloading a number of puppies, one ran away and the executive director said that it was not worth chasing the puppy because it would most likely be killed by a car on Platte Canyon Road. I know its true that you need the makeover but when you are number two, have millions of dollars in donations, and a ton of volunteers to help you i dont think you need it. There are a number of shelters around the country who dont have enough support who need the makeover SO MUCH MORE THAN YOUR SHELTER. The humane society near my house has 60 cats and has less than 800 square feet. YOU HAD A REMODEL OF OFFICES AND A NEW DOG AREA! Many shelters than DESERVE IT MORE THAN YOU DESERVE IT MORE
