It makes me chuckle when I read some of the journal entries where the writers talk about particular shelters being REALLY old! Our kennel building was built at the turn of the century and I don't mean 1999!! It was a dairy barn constructed in the late 1800s and added onto over the years. I thought I had put up duplicate shelter dog photos on my journal entries but upon examining them next to each other I can see they are a tiny bit different. Not that it matters much anymore, I wonder how it was determined so many photos and videos were duplicates. Hundreds of thousands of pieces of submitted material had to be reviewed. Obviously shelters have different ideas as so how to make themselves appear worthy of consideration in the shelter make-over competition. We chose to make our shelter look as good as it can be by cleaning, straightening up and using our volunteers and staff to fix anything that could easily be fixed. read more
