Laxatone makes a catnip flavored one. Does your cat like catnip? My finicky cat will only eat certain flavors and the malt flavor is not her favorite. I have several flavors to see which one she is interested in that day. One time I rubbed it on her paw like the vet said to try and she just flinged the glob across the room off her paw. I don't force it on her anymore because it just makes a mess like you mentioned. I've even tried mixing it in her food without success. Read Less

If your animal is having a hard time eating then it's possible they got the wrong size and it's too long. They'll figure out how to eat; it's just learning a new trick. My cat does good with the soft e-collar.
